Hutchinson, Nina (17 JUN 1896)

Married, at the M. E. Church in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), last evening, June 17th, 1896, Mr. Wm. D. Bartell and Miss Nina Hutchinson, both of this city, Rev. A. J. Davis of Superior officiating, assisted by Rev. C. H. Chase.

Another couple of our best young people have formed a life partnership and together will brave the storms of life and together share its sunshine.

The groom is the second son of W. H. Bartell of Grand Ridge, Florida, formerly of this city; he came to Colby when two years of age, and has made this city his home since with the exception of about two years; when he was south with his parents. He received his education in the Colby schools and here he has grown to man’s estate. He is an honest, upright and industrious young man; his friends are numbered by his acquaintances.

The bride is the second daughter of Cyrus Hutchinson, she too has passed the most of her life here, graduated from the high school, and took a course at the Normal at Oshkosh; since when she has taught a couple of years in the primary department of our city schools, where she gave the utmost satisfaction; and, like her husband, she can count her friends by counting her acquaintances.

At exactly eight o’clock, Mrs. F. M. Jackson struck up a wedding march and the bridal party entered the already crowded church; the bride on the arm of her father and the groom accompanied by Mrs. D. R. Freeman, aunt of the bride; upon reaching the altar the couple took their positions under an evergreen arch, from the apex of which was suspended a floral boot; they were attended by Messrs. Ernest Wicker, Peter Groos, Adolph Moerke, and Misses Nettie Wicker, Claudia Booth, Callie Shafer; Misses Edith Roter, Hortense Salter, DeEtt Booth and Myrtle Miller acting as ushers. The impressive ceremony was pronounced by Presiding Elder, A. J. Davis, and a prayer delivered by Rev. C. H. Chase.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Dr. D. R. Freeman, where refreshments were served, and an enjoyable time had until 11:30 when the bridal party were driven to Abbotsford, where the happy couple took the limited, en-route for Manistee, Mich., where they will visit for a time, expecting to return her in about a month. They start out on their journey with the best wishes of this entire community. The presents bestowed were numerous and appropriate.
